Australia covers a vast region and is home to diverse landscapes from snowy peaks in Victoria to the sunny shores of Tropical North Queensland and the arid regions of the Outback. Due to its complexity we highly recommend referring to specific meteorological advice on your chosen destinations before choosing your holiday to gain the most precise information available.

In these pages, we explain some of the main climate differences and suggest the best time of year to travel.

Being in the southern hemisphere the seasons are opposite to those in the United Kingdom. Spring is from September to November, summer from December to February, autumn from March till May and winter from June till August.

Broadly there are two climatic zones. About 40 percent of Australia is in the tropical zone situated north of the Tropic of Capricorn. The remaining areas lie in the temperate zone south of the Tropic. The temperate regions have four seasons, while those in the tropics have just two - wet & dry.
