The XPT - travel from Sydney to Melbourne. The XPT's unique aerodynamic nose design makes a distinctive impression as you cruise through the countryside

The XPT

Introduced in 1982 the XPT is short for ‘express
passenger train’.

Travel from Sydney to Melbourne
and you can stop off at Albury, Wodonga to visit
some of the Rutherlgen wineries, or combine your
XPT journey with the XPLORER rail service to visit
the nation's capital Canberra - en route.

The XPT's unique aerodynamic nose design makes a distinctive
impression as you cruise through the countryside.

Choose from an economy or first class seat, or for
overnight journeys twin berths are available. A buffet
car is on the train serving hot and cold food and
drinks.

Along your Sydney to Brisbane route you will
pass through Coffs Harbour, surrounded by miles of
unspoilt beach. Travel from Sydney to Melbourne and
you will journey into Canberra, the nation's capital;
why not take the opportunity to break your journey
and rejoin the train the next day?
