Bungles, Cape York & Beyond by Private Plane Itinerary
Day 1. Sydney, Broken Hill.
Depart Sydney aboard your Private Plane, flying across the
spectacular Blue Mountains to Australia’s largest
inland city, Broken Hill. Venture underground at
one of Broken Hill’s former mines, see the Royal
Flying Doctor Service Base and visit a gallery
featuring the work of the Brushmen of the Bush,
a group of outback painters.
Stay: Broken Hill, Old Willyama Motor Inn. LD
Day 2. Broken Hill, Lake Eyre, Birdsville, Alice Springs.
Fly over Lake Eyre and see the depiction of the Marree Man. Arrive in
Birdsville and enjoy an outback lunch and town
tour. Fly to Alice Springs and choose from a
selection of restaurants at our Dine Around Dinner.
Stay: Alice Springs. BLD
Day 3. Alice Springs, Uluru (Ayers Rock).
Visit the Alice Springs Desert Park and
stroll through the different desert habitats. Then
travel to Simpson’s Gap, a striking gorge in the
MacDonnell Ranges, for a picnic lunch. Join a
scenic flight over the MacDonnell Ranges to
Uluru. Tonight you can choose to dine at the
hotel, or join the Sounds of Silence dinner.
Stay: Uluru, Sails in the Desert Resort. BLD
Day 4. Ayers Rock (Uluru), Broome.
Tour the base of Uluru, then continue to the
Olgas, a magnificent cluster of 36 rocky domes
that dominate the skyline. Then fly to Broome.
Two Night Stay: Broome,
Cable Beach Club Resort & Spa. BLD
Day 5. Broome.
Relax by the beach, or head out pearl shopping.
Then take in the sights of Broome, including Chinatown and the
Japanese Cemetery. Watch the sun set on Cable
Beach and enjoy a Dine Around Dinner. BLD
Day 6. Broome, Bungle Bungle Range.
Fly to Kununurra and change to a smaller aircraft
for a scenic flight over the World Heritage-listed
Bungle Bungle Range. Land in Purnululu
National Park, where you’ll stay for two nights.
Two Night Stay: Purnululu National Park,
Bungle Bungle Wilderness Lodge. BLD
Day 7. Bungle Bungle Range.
Today choose from a walk into Echidna Chasm
or Cathedral Gorge and Piccaninny Creek. BLD
Day 8. Bungle Bungles, Lake Argyle, Darwin.
A scenic flight takes you back to
Kununurra. Travel to Lake Argyle and take a
cruise on this lake. Back in Kununurra, rejoin
your Private Plane and fly to Darwin. Tonight
enjoy a Darwin Dine Around Dinner.
Three Night Stay: Darwin,
Mantra on the Esplanade Hotel. BLD
Days 9 & 10. Darwin and the Top End.
Enjoy two full days to enjoy the sights of Darwin
and the Top End, with a range of complimentary
sightseeing tours to choose from. Perhaps
explore Kakadu National Park; journey out to
Litchfield National Park; visit Katherine Gorge
and Edith Falls; tour the sights of Darwin; or join
a sunset cruise on Darwin’s historic harbour. On
both evenings enjoy Dine Around Dinners, with a
wide selection of restaurants to choose from. BLD
Day 11. Darwin, Horn Island, Thursday Island.
Fly to Horn Island in Torres Strait,
then cruise to Thursday Island and tour the town.
Please note that tonight’s accommodation in
the Torres Strait is relatively basic.
Two Night Stay: Torres Strait. BLD
Day 12. Cape York.
Enjoy a relaxing boat trip
to Cape York, then take a short walk to the
northernmost tip of Australia. The relics of
the historic town of Somerset are nearby. BLD
Day 13. Horn Island, Cooktown.
Join a World War II tour of the sights of Horn Island.
Then fly to Cooktown.
Stay: Cooktown, Sovereign Resort Hotel. BLD
Day 14. Cooktown, Cairns.
Explore Cooktown this morning, visiting the
Chinese cemetery and the statue of Captain
Cook. This afternoon enjoy a festive farewell
flight to Cairns. On arrival, guests can extend
their stay in Far North Queensland. Please
